November is a restful month. After the preparations of autumn and before the hectic commercialism of the holidays, it is a time to take stock, to reflect on what has passed and on what is still to come, before the year ends.
Tonight, when I went to pick up the baby after work, I was unexpectedly greeted by a cozy party at my parents'. There was hot chili, pumpkin custard, s'mores, and a bonfire. Old friends and new. Hearty laughter drifted above our heads with the sparks and ashes.
