We've got colds again around here, and I'm seriously thinking of treating the virus with a Knickerbocker Glory.  Ice cream makes everything better.

The latest in the Harry Potter book club is up at Spinning Straw into Gold.

So is the latest copy of Soul Gardening, which is cheap-as-free, so why aren't you subscribed yet?

Please join us in praying a Chaplet of Divine Mercy for a Catholic Students Union friend of my sisters'.  He went missing out in his kayak in Pensacola four days ago.  They called off the search yesterday.  Mary, Star of the Sea, pray for us.  Stella Maris, ora pro nobis!

I don't think I've shared this yet, which I must, because it is a treat.

Yesterday, we saw The Great Gatsby in the theater  and the whole experience, for me, is best summarized by the statement, "That was the best movie I've ever seen in my life."

Not hyperbole.

  1. Wait, so The Great Gatsby was good???!! I wouldn't have expected that. How much do you have had to love the book to like the movie? I liked it a lot in some ways, but the sadness, it buuuuuuuuuuuurned.

If you try a Knickerbocker Glory... PICTURES!

    1. I intended to, but the virus quickly devolved into the non-eating kind. :c

It was sooo good, I mean I like the book and appreciated it, but I don't think I've ever seen such a pure effort to transform a beloved novel into a movie for its own sake. Not one thing was added or subtracted that wasn't necessary. The costuming, acting, casting, soundtrack, cinematography, everything is 100% or nothing. It's a work of art.

Oh yes, and very sad, yes!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Okay - so are you saying that I should give Leo another chance??? I just can't handle that guy!! But, I love the story, so maybe it's worth the watch. Sweet list!!

    1. What about him do you dislike? He was able to outshine his teenage hearthrob years, which is usually a death sentence. Like Will Smith, he knows how to chose good roles. If you could erase "I'm on the top of the world...!" from your memory, perhaps?

    2. Ooh, sorry about the non-eating virus. :(

Haha, part of my worry about movie Gatsby is that I like Leo so much. I never had the Titanic crush, but I think the pool scene at the end would... let's just say it would pack all the punch it's supposed to, and maybe then some.

He does seem to choose his roles wisely, anyway. And the movie does look absolutely beautiful. It is awfully tempting.
