Theme Thursday: Boys

Oh boy, boys!  The two on the outside belong to my best friend from high school.  When they came down all the way from the moose pens in Alaska, our first priority was to put these two little boys together.  Born within two weeks of one another, easily mistaken for brothers because of their coloring, they're nature's blessing and affirmation of our friendship.

We walked around with these young'uns on the campus of our alma mater, reminiscing fondly of the days we terrorized that tranquil setting, starting with post-acceptance, pre-matriculation tomfoolery in the library.  We used to joke we were twins.  Both pixie-size, both curly-headed, with similar black-rimmed glasses and perky personalities, it wasn't too off-base.  People who saw us around campus knew us as Christie-and-Gena, and once I had a student in the resource learning center point at me, and say hesitantly, "Which one are you . . . Gena, right?"

So the universe claps its hands and shouts "again!"  History repeats itself with these two golden little boys.

  1. Oh my goodness. There is something about these pictures that just makes me relax. I know with little boys- especially with 2 littles, things don't stay calm for long.

  3. Christie, you are so talented with words and photos. What a special story.

Did you use the tilt shift edit on these?

  4. Aw, I love these stories. My childhood best friend and I are ten inches apart and not really mistakable for each other, but we still talk on the phone pretty regularly despite not having lived in the same state for seventeen years. And we can still make each other laugh and talk about the deepest things with particular ease.

Beautiful pictures! My goodness, those two little boys DO look alike. :)

  10. Oh, how fun!! Funny - I could tell almost the same story about my daughter and my dearest friend's daughter. Mine was born in Alaska and the first thing we did when we went back south to visit? Got the girls together! (They looked a lot more alike back then than they do know, but they are still best buds when they are together.) Thanks for sharing!
